Carbon Drawdown Symposium 2026

At the Carbon Drawdown Symposium, we move from theory to execution. 134 Members

Over the past years we have run three enhanced weathering experiments. Now it is time to put together the puzzle pieces. Our goal is to collect and present our research results and take the field of enhanced rock weathering a major step forward.

The Carbon Drawdown Symposium begins tomorrow.

On 16 June, we will open our enhanced rock weathering measurement dataset live, in public, for the first time. Twelve presentations. Nine research questions. Data spanning multiple field sites, soil types, and years of sampling — including findings that will be shared publicly for the first time.

Opening Up the ERW Dataset: Results, Debate & What Comes Next

Over the past few years, we’ve been building a large dataset on enhanced rock weathering – spanning different field sites, soil types, and measurement approaches, and collecting data across multiple growing seasons.

What happens to organic carbon over time?

One of the harder questions in enhanced rock weathering is not only how much inorganic carbon is removed, but what happens to the organic carbon within our soils over time.

Where Do the Cations Actually Go?

Here’s a problem I keep coming back to: a lot of the cations we think we’ve released by weathering may not be where we think they are.

Does ERW help crops — or harm them?

The dataset we're presenting at the Carbon Drawdown Symposium on 16 June spans multiple field sites, feedstock types, soils, and measurement approaches, collected across the last years.

Here's a glimpse of what's actually in it.

The World’s Largest Enhanced-Weathering Greenhouse

Enhanced rock weathering has real potential as a carbon removal pathway. The chemistry is well understood, and the theoretical scale is significant. It’s no surprise that interest from buyers, policymakers, and researchers continues to grow.

Carbon Drawdown Symposium 2026

At Carbon Drawdown Initiative we've spent years asking one question: is the carbon we think we're removing from the atmosphere actually removed?

Bringing together the puzzle pieces: Carbon Drawdown Symposium

On 16 June, scientists working directly with samples and datasets from our greenhouse experiment will present their findings in a full day of talks, live-streamed online and freely accessible. On 17 June, the focus shifts to hands-on workshops, building directly on the results and discussions from the first day. We invite you to join us in this important journey.
