Our Purpose
This community exists to advance the carbon dioxide removal industry through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and collective action. These guidelines ensure our space remains productive, inclusive, and focused on our shared mission.
Core Principles
1. Mission-Focused Engagement
Keep discussions relevant to CDR technology, policy, business development, and industry growth. We're here to build an industry, not to debate whether climate change is real.
2. Respectful Discourse
Treat all members with professionalism and respect, regardless of their role, organization size, or experience level. Disagree with ideas, not people. Assume good faith.
3. Constructive Contribution
Share knowledge generously. Ask questions openly. Offer feedback that helps others improve. Celebrate wins across the community, not just your own.
4. Intellectual Honesty
Be transparent about your affiliations and potential conflicts of interest. Distinguish between proven results and projections. Acknowledge uncertainty where it exists—our industry is young and evolving.
5. Confidentiality & Trust
Respect information shared in confidence. Don't share proprietary details, private conversations, or member contact information outside the community without explicit permission.
Encouraged Behaviors
- Sharing lessons learned, including failures
- Connecting members who could benefit from knowing each other
- Asking for help and offering expertise
- Providing constructive feedback on projects and ideas
- Amplifying opportunities for the broader CDR ecosystem
Prohibited Behaviors
Content Standards
- Offensive, obscene, or vulgar content
- Adult, sexually explicit, or pornographic material
- Violent, graphic, or disturbing imagery
- Content that promotes illegal activities
Community Conduct
- Personal attacks, harassment, bullying, or intimidation
- Hate speech, discriminatory language, or slurs targeting any group
- Threats of violence or encouraging harm to others
- Doxxing or sharing others' private information
Professional Integrity
- Spam, unsolicited sales pitches, or excessive self-promotion
- Sharing false or misleading claims about CDR performance or results
- Disclosing confidential information without consent
- Recruiting or poaching in inappropriate contexts
- Greenwashing or misrepresenting climate impact
- Impersonating other members or organizations
Promotion & Commercial Activity
We encourage members to share their work, but keep it balanced. A good rule: contribute meaningfully to discussions at least as often as you promote your own projects. Blatant advertising without community engagement will be removed.
Enforcement
Violations will be addressed proportionally:
- First instance: Private reminder from moderators
- Repeated issues: Formal warning with specific expectations
- Serious or continued violations: Temporary or permanent removal from the community
Severe violations—including hate speech, threats, adult content, or illegal activity—may result in immediate removal without warning.
Members who witness violations should report them to the moderation team. Reports are handled confidentially.
A Note on Disagreement
The CDR industry involves genuine scientific, technical, and strategic debates. Healthy disagreement—about approaches, technologies, policies, and priorities—is welcome and valuable. What matters is how we disagree: with evidence, respect, and a shared commitment to getting things right.
By participating in this community, you agree to uphold these standards and contribute to a space where the CDR industry can grow and thrive.
